Concord dogs studies and makes recommendations

Thrilled to be unanimously elected as Vice Chair of the East Bay Regional Park District Parks Advisory Committee PAC! The PAC studies and makes recommendations on a spectrum of policy issues, such as grazing, dogs, horses, and bikes in parks, the Park District budget, naming park facilities, park land use plans, new concessions, and more. Over the next few months, the PAC will make recommendations to the EBRPD Board of Directors on the name of and proposed land use plan for the new East Bay Regional Park being established at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station! Unlike other police canines, Liberty will be trained by a nonprofit as a comfort dog. Concord police Chief Bradley Osgood estimates Liberty will cost about 5,000, but a nonprofit is covering the costs.Supporters of police comfort dogs argue they provide a valuable service during traumatic events. They can help survivors, witnesses, and officers cope. They also help build a positive relationship between the police and the community they serve.
