Tulare cars tailpipe emissions test, but a smog shop

Thanks to the Valley Air District, the first 525 drivers who come to the event will receive emissions testing. If your car doesnt pass our test, youll receive a 500 voucher for smog repairs at a participating STAR certified smog shop in the area. Also inquire about our Vehicle Replacement program! You may be able to trade in your old car for an electric vehicle!

There are many reasons why a car may fail smog. Unfortunately, the 500 vouchers can only go toward emissions-related repairs. Thats why we do a tailpipe emissions test, but a smog shop has many other things theyre looking at. The only way to know for sure if you qualify is to bring your failed inspection slip VIR or to have it tested at the event.

If another family member needs to drive the car to the event, thats no problem. Our staff will use the registration to gather information about the vehicle including the VIN, then if it fails the emissions test, the voucher you get is tied to the VIN when it goes in for repairs.

Bring your registration. If your registration is expired or your vehicle is registered non-op, of course you can participate! If you dont have a registration, bring whatever documents you have about the vehicle-a title, insurance paperwork, a recent invoice from a repair shop. If your car has recently failed a smog check at a local smog shop, it helps to bring your failed Vehicle Inspection Report VIR to the event.
