Auburn car had visitors traveling from all over the world

Sarahs first job out of college was managing a multi-million dollar budget and over 100 employees. Her experience, creative problem solving skills, and strong leadership skills is what led her strategic development of the ACD Festival. The ACD Festival had been happening in our community for nearly 60 years when Sarah began as the Executive Director in 2013. The obstacle was how to engage young people to participate and appreciate this important staple of Auburn. At the time Auburn had visitors traveling from all over the world to experience this celebration of our automotive heritage, what we didnt have was community buy-in. By attracting sponsors, adding events like downtown fireworks, Miss ACD, Market on 6th, Historic Home Tours, Fast and Fabulous exotic car show, live music on a professional event stage, and executing a high quality promotional publication and marketing plan including press conferences and pre-event promotions, growing the festival was no small feat. Not to mention, all of this was done with an all-volunteer board of directors, community supporters and just 2 part-time paid staff people. Sarah worked with a variety of city and state officials to close the streets, create emergency preparedness plans, manage logistics and even organize the trash collection. These are all the not-so-glamorous details that really make the event possible and safe.
