Victorville pets egular celebrity performances and the Kennedy family

McKelveys success inspired other hotels and casinos to develop in the area. With regular celebrity performances and the Kennedy family as frequent guests, Lake Tahoes resort and casino industry took off like a rocket! By the mid-1950s, even Frank Sinatra owned a hotel in the area. Eventually, McKelveys complex was sold to San Francisco businessman and band leader Tom Guerin and his partners in 1955. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994 for surviving as one of few 1930s-era Lake Tahoe-area hotels that had been preserved with integrity.

While McKelvey went on to have great success with his La-Vada and Cal-Vada Lodges and Hotels, the same could not be said for Blair, Nevada.was produced from the Silver Peak District, and Blair in particular. By 1915, the mining opportunities at Silver Peak began to decline and the mill was eventually shut down. The large facility was dismantled and sold to another mine. The railroad, originally intended to serve the mine, was torn up in 1918. The loss of the mill, mine, and railroad left residents with limited economic opportunities. By 1920, Blair, Nevada became a ghost town.
