The foundation for this new normal has been laid over many years as evidence by how quickly we have transitioned at a pace that in retrospect seems almost overnight. Much like river travel, railroads, and the interstate highway system changed our lives this new normal will change the course of most cities with some benefiting and some losing ground. Huntingtons ability to benefit will come directly from our city culture and how quickly we can adapt to this new normal.
No longer will lifestyle improvements such as new street lights, urban gardens, bike lanes, and artistic murals be tertiary investments. These additions will be necessary to make our city more attractive to people who can choose where they want to live because they have jobs that can move with them.
