November is Traditional and Alternative Health Month in the Philippines. 1 Natural Medicine is a wonderful field full of amazing discoveries. Here, I have 3 books on the subject printed by the Philippines Department of Health DOH that I use often. These are the first 2 volumes of the Philippines medicinal plant encyclopedias and the Philippines guidelines for using herbal medicine.

It was very surprising to see then and even now that China is quite a bit farther down the road than we are in the Philippines when it comes to Natural Medicine. It came as no surprise in 2016 when the Chinese government announced their aim to fully integrate Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM into their healthcare system by 2020 5. This is because they have a significant scientific understanding of Chinese medicinal plants and their value in treating chronic conditions.

By 2020, every Chinese citizen will have access to basic TCM services, and by 2030 TCM services will cover all areas of medical care. Meanwhile, China will also actively introduce TCM to the rest of the world, and promote the integration of TCM and other traditional medicine with modern technology, so as to explore a new model of healthcare to improve the well-being of all people of the world, and make a full contribution to global progress and a brighter future for mankind. 5 - The State Council Information Office of the Peoples Republic of China
