Under general supervision, operates a variety of heavy, power-driven equipment, and also have the ability to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled labor in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of City facilities and infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, street lights, water distribution and sewer collection systems, drainage facilities, traffic signals, municipal buildings and structures, parks, playground equipment and facilities reads and records meter readings, tests and maintains meters, turns offon water service, performs other related maintenance duties as assigned.

Ability to speak, read and write in the English language and ability to follow and apply oral and written instructions. The knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of water and sewer piping including the knowledge and understanding of plumbing, including water, wastewater and drainage systems.

The knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in park and landscape maintenance. Have a knowledge of materials, tools and equipment used in the building construction trades. Desire and ability to practice safe work practices and policies including an in depth knowledge of CaliforniaFederal OSHA regulations as they apply to essential job duties. Knowledge of public facilities construction techniques and methods. Knowledge of traffic control rules and regulations.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Drive light and medium duty trucks and operate construction equipment. Use sandblasting and painting equipment. Perform heavy manual labor. Work after hours, weekends, and on-call, as necessary. Make accurate calculations and measurements as required for the job. Operate modern communication devices, including cell phone, radio, and personal computer. Work efficiently both as a member of a crew and independently. Accurately complete routine work activity records and timesheets.
