As many of you already know, I decided some months ago not to run for re-election for Hampton City Treasurer. I care deeply about the welfare of the City, the people who work in the Treasurers Office and the years of hard work by many who have made the Hampton Treasurers Office a respected and well oiled machine. I would not have considered leaving unless I knew there was someone qualified to run to take over and keep us on track. That person is Chris Snead.

The Hampton City Treasurers job is vitally important to the financial health of the City. Billing and collecting taxes on time means the City can pay its bills on schedule and your taxes stay as low as possible. Chris is the only person running who has actual working knowledge and respect for state and local laws and how the city functions. She has a proven track record of being a gifted manager and being a team player. We know this because of her history as a department head and a member of City Council.

The Treasurer performs no auditing, accounting or budgeting work, those functions are performed by other City departments. The Treasurer is a bookkeeper and collector and responsible for the safekeeping of substantial City funds. You need a person in this job you trust and are comfortable with handling your money.
