Merced travel time between the two majorly traffic-locked cities

California Governor Gavin Newsom detailed regrettably that California will not be completing the 77 billion high speed rail project, a railway intended to go from Los Angeles to San Francisco. It had planned to go 520 miles in the first phase, housing trains that go up to 220 miles an hour. This would have greatly decreased travel time between the two majorly traffic-locked cities. Instead, Gavin is trying to push for a railway going from Bakersfield to Merced. Gavin reasons that the project, as currently planned, would cost too much and take too long. Theres been too little oversight and not enough transparency.
