Hawthorne travel spent the last two months going to meetings

Someone asked me what I thought about my first run at politics. I had three words exciting, informative, and sociable. Well maybe with Covid-19 not as sociable as I would have liked it to have been, but I have got to know many more people in my community. I was overwhelmed by the number of people who came to me and offered their support. It was obvious they were looking for a new direction and just needed someone with tough leadership skills they could get behind. Walking down this journey has not been an easy choice for my family and I. I dont fit the mold as a politician, but thats OK. I dont consider myself one either.

I consider myself a financial conservative business entrepreneur who understands that every dollar spent has to make a difference. I have spent the last two months going to meetings, gathering information, and asking a lot of questions. I can assure you that spending money on drones, websites, financial consultants, lake consultants, energy consultants, overpriced health care for our employees, and not purchasing the lowest cost item when bids are submitted has cost this county hundreds of thousands of dollars in a year.

After traveling down Lower Hawthorne Trail, dodging potholes and then later turning on Pine Park Road, swerving to miss the craters in the road I finally reached my destination. While sitting there I pondered, why dont we refocus all this spending on things that matter the most? I can tell you citizens of Grady County I have seen lavish spending in the short time I have chosen to run for office. I am referring to only a matter of a few months. Can you imagine what this would accumulate over a commission term of four years? We have squandered away our opportunity to make a difference on our roads by chasing things we should not have bought.
