A lot of the people who end up moving to Bonita Springs came here to come to visit someplace else. They came to Southwest Florida, they came to Miami, they came to Fort Lauderdale and they just happened to come through here, but on their way past. Here through I 75, they come through this really quaint little community. This really relaxed environment that we call Bonita Springs and they fall in love with it and move.
Here I mean: there's, there's so much to be offered, and we do say it's at that small town, charm and in a big bright future because of that city Bonita Springs had, I think, a pretty unique start there I mean it was actually started from a Group of surveyors that were coming through Bonita Springs before it was even Bonita Springs.
It was, there was nothing here and the group of surveyors found the river on this whole area beautiful, so they capped her well, they had to call the camp, something so being a rather, I guess real creative group of surveyors. They called it to survey so so anyway so that it became survey at first and as it became a little bit, more people were moving here.
So a lot of these landmarks may look familiar to folks that have been here in the past, but there's been a lot of changes, so maybe I'll point a few, those out as we're driving down the street. I think most notably up here on the Left. What used to be the corner store and the utility building is now a little restaurant, so you can see the white umbrellas outs or outside seating.
There is a little bit of inside seating, the fire station here on the left, and that is a beautiful 9/11 memorial. On the mural on the side, and they have moved the granite that was brought here from the World Trade Center.
Well, a developer came to town and, of course, the developers started to divide in the streets and whatnot. But the survey wasn't a good selling point, wasn't a very pretty name, so I knew they needed to change the name of the town, so he named it after his daughter Bonita and they called it.
Tourists would come down and enjoy the weather and the beaches, and the malls and Bonita have become a hotspot. Bonita Springs is located midway between Fort Myers, Florida and Naples. We have about 45,000 year-round residents, we're about 46 square miles.
