We're going to take a tour of this city, learn a few facts about its population, its attractions, business climate and even take a look back at its history. But to begin with, we're having many miles in one direction straight up: Cape Coral is located in Southwest Florida and is now the largest city between Tampa and Miami. It consists of 114 square miles, much of it, surrounded by water. On the east side, it is separated from Fort Myers by the Caloosahatchee River. On the west side, it is separated from Pine Island by Matlacha Pass. The development of Cape Coral began on November 4th, 1957 by the Rosen brothers. There are Cubans there are Filipinos, there are people from up north there's a lot of different mixed people here, and it really makes a great place. Diversity really makes cape coral great, because the communities all have good, economical mobility, which means there's a lot of varied restaurants from lots of backgrounds. You will not get born in cape coral when it comes to dining out a lot of places like Orlando come to mind where there's diversity, and it just creates a mess of people that just's weird. At the time, the future city was promoted as the waterfront Wonderland homesites sold for between nine hundred ninety dollars and three thousand three hundred ninety dollars, depending on the water view or the location of the waterfront or riverfront home site. Now the city is kind of communicated from the rest of southwest Florida other than access to the city of Fort Myers, it's kind of in a weird peninsula, so going out of cape coral, it kind of takes a little bit longer than it should. Today, Cape Coral has a population of more than 160,000 and although many new businesses have spun up along the city's main thoroughfares, many old-style commercial buildings still exist with many lining.
