Historical Museum in front of me is the official historical atlas map of Tulare County from eighteen eighteen ninety-two hereby Thomas H Thompson these books back in the old days that this actually reprints these books back in the old days were how they kept track of who owned wetland and if you go to the County Recorder today they still refer to book and page but one of the things. I wanted to point out I have this page already bookmarked and mostly because of one specific detail but as you can tell all this was hand-drawn back in the old days there were no photographs of this stuff so what they would do is they would go out and they would actually commission an artist to go out and draw these these these landscapes for the bullocks you know to show how things looking out different prominent. Residences and stuff, for example, this one here as we can tell is a stock ranch of art a height of ice Elliot wiry County California now what's interesting is that before the 1900s there were no kings kill me Kings County did not exist it actually broke off from Tulare county and as we all know Hanford is located in Kings County but this book represents what was before 1900 so we go down here view on the Bonanza vineyard Joey Biddle and company partners and agents in dealers and land and livestock hanford. Transportation was the first impetus behind the establishment of the town. Tulare flourished as the headquarters of the railroad in the area. The town suffered through many difficult challenges, but despite burning down and being rebuilt three times in its first fourteen years of existence, it was eventually incorporated in 1888.
