Albany accounting Treasurers Office the best it can be

This week Jennifer Furman filed petitions in this years race for Chemung County Treasurer to secure her ballot positions for the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform lines.It was a pleasure to speak directly with hundreds of Chemung County residents while collecting signatures, said Furman. They provided valuable insights and concerns about taxes, monitoring county spending and transparency in government. If elected this fall, Ill use the information I learned from them to help make the Treasurers Office the best it can be.

In all, Furman and her team of volunteers collected more than 2,100 signatures in support of her candidacy. New York State law requires candidates collect petition signatures from 5 of each Partys enrollment within their district in order to qualify for the ballot.

Furman has served as the Deputy County Treasurer since 2007 and previously served as Director of Administrative Services for the Department of Social Services and as Fiscal Manager for the Mental Health Division. Prior to joining Chemung County Government, she worked in the private sector in public accounting as an associate for KPMG in Albany. She has also served as Treasurer of the Elmira Water Board.
