After jogging up the porch steps, he pulled the screen door open. A laugh floated out from the kitchen to his right and he froze in the doorway as the screen door slammed behind him.

The motion was so similar to the night in the bar that Hawthorne couldnt restrain himself. He had no intention of confronting Avery. Of course, that was before he realized she intended to ignore him completely.
