Now today, we're coming to you from downtown Gilbert is one of the premier suburbs in all of the countries.
So let's go ahead and take a walk down here and show you what it looks like here in 2020 during this pandemic, the Gilbert keeps on growing, we'll see where it's going to be at in 10 years.
But it's been a year since we've come down here.
So we're going to see how much has progressed in a year, obviously, covid has been uh playing games with Gilbert and all of the Phoenix.
Actually, let's see so this area, known as the heritage district, is the oldest part of Gilbert just across the railroad tracks.
It has become an art, friendly kind of scene down here, there's also quite a few restaurants and pubs and eateries that people enjoy like a culinary dropout, whiskey row by Dirks Bentley when that's available actually prior to the pandemic, you would come down to Gilbert and man.
Definitely out of something I don't know why they don't build more residential because if they build residential like apartments and condos and stuff people will, you know, come down here even more so like they've downloaded this area over here, where's the.
Why haven't they built the uh residential thing I like is the uh.
They got the parking garage over there.
They still have the dirt parking lot, also, which I don't like, which I like, but I'm saying it's.
I don't like in terms of practicality and uh, you know is the future of what's needed, but it works for now.
Just some quick history about Gilbert.
In the year 1980, it had a population of 5700 people.
Nowadays, here in 2020, it's around about 240 000 people, so it is definitely one of the boom towns in the phoenix metro area.
Some people speculate.
The population would be around 255 000 people here.
So it's definitely growing the name itself.
Gilbert was established by William bobby Gilbert, who provided the land from the Arizona eastern railway and, as you can see when you cross the railroad tracks, that's when you're in downtown Gilbert, some people call it dtg makes sense right, downtown Gilbert anyways, as you can see, since The pandemic, one thing you don't really do down here is a shop, so shopping is not really a big thing right now in downtown Gilbert, but the eateries definitely open and uh bars, not so much.
But if you want to get a good bite to eat plenty of great solutions and keep in mind, this is what it looks like in the middle of august 106 degrees out, but during the pandemic.
Also, we're also going to show you guys what it looks like down here in the evening time.
That's what Gilbert really does come to life, especially in the summertime, so we'll just cruise around here and show you some of the uh other local eateries and cafes, and then we'll switch it over to the nighttime so stay tuned for that later so we're here in downtown gilbert at night on a Monday night, we're going to show you guys what it looks like down here.
So, let's see what comes out about downtown Gilbert, we've obviously been here in the daytime, showing you guys what it was like in the daytime in downtown Gilbert.
