Hello from the Imperial sand dunes we chase the sunrise out here this morning and we have such gorgeous views behind us the Sun is rising and it's absolutely beautiful we can see it all over the sand dunes and I'm so glad that we got up at 3:30 in the morning to come see this after this we're sending the entire day in Yuma Arizona which is only about 30 minutes from here I think but it's on the Arizona side of the border we're right now on the California side but we do have an awesome day planned in Yuma we're going to be doing a bunch of really cool things we're gonna rent bikes and ride along the Riverwalk we're going to visit an old prison we're gonna check out a local brewery and it just should really be a great day yes but for right now we have a gorgeous sunrise that we need to enjoy so we're gonna hang out here for a little while longer before we get going
thank goodness are putting into coffee are both starved so we stopped in at a local coffee house called North End coffee house to get a bagel and acai bowl into a very strong African coffees which are really good this is definitely the healthier option to the bagel welcomes I think those were really good but like look how beautiful it says I mean come on its food art now that we're super caffeinated we actually got a recommendation from the people that work at the Visitor Center that they keep an app up-to-date with stuff to do and we just checked in there's a farmers market that is starting in a few minutes so we're gonna head over there and see if there is any fresh produce that we want to buy
but you think so far I'm most intrigued
by the pasta birds they have a porcini
mushroom shell pasta that I might have
to buy it doesn't sound good it's a
little farmers market but they've got a
lot of great stuff it looks like it's a
lot of local produce and local vendors
and arts and crafts there's a cattle
court and stand just over there but
everyone's still setting up right now
it's really just at the beginning of the
farmers market right now but this is
really cool I did not intend to buy
anything but they had a beautiful
jewelry stand
with beautiful colored rocks on the necklaces that are in wire in casings and it was so my style absolutely everything that I couldn't resist getting a new necklace which I love and was only $15 I love you meup anyways the farmers market is definitely a little on the smaller side but they've got really quality stuff for what they do have there so are glad that we heard about that and checked it out so next we're gonna go find some bikes and then we're gonna go ride along the Colorado River on the Riverwalk oh there's signs let's do the West wetlands we absolutely loved biking around outside in the sunshine and the West wetlands park was especially beautiful we also loved the creative playground that we biked by another cool part of the park that we stopped in at was the statue to the Mormon Battalion which back in the 1840s was tasked with finding the fastest route across the Colorado River we just loved being outside in the Sun and being along the Colorado River and enjoying all that Park has to offer
right now we're biking down the riverfront trail and it's just such a beautiful stay as there's people paddleboarding there's people biking and everyone's just so friendly like almost everyone we've passed as I said hello hi it's just a nice city so we went to laFonda Mexican restaurant for lunch which was so good and super authentic
the same family's been running it since
the 1980s and the food was just really
really good we had some rolled tacos we
had at geladas we had tortilla soup
awesome lunch way too much so then we
went and checked into our hotel and now
we are here at the state historic prison
which were gonna go check out which is a
prison from the 1800s and I gotta say
I'm glad I was not a filling for some
conscience because this place looks
pretty nuts
these are crazy and I think I saw in the
mean can we walk through that they had a
lot of Christian escapes so I wonder
other people pieces feel to it they
newspapers and images kind of clips
together had a lot of really cool stuff
so we just got done checking out the
murals and the heart at the Yuma Art
Center which was super super cool I love
when a city invests in art it's just so
beautiful for the locals and for us
tourists as well and now we're walking
along Main Street which is the main
downtown area here in Yuma there's a
bunch of restaurants and shops a lot of
local businesses which is great
we're gonna kind of strong get a lay of the land and then we'll probably end up grabbing a drink and some dinner where Lutz Casino and there's just like a bunch of eclectic stuff all over the walls but apparently the food here is super good really just both starving check out this home we got a Polish french fries and really cheese dinner at Lutz casino was absolutely awesome it was just the calf up to an already amazing day we're very pleasantly surprised at how much we loved you mom there's a free month of stuff to do they've really
