Huntington Park is one of the gateways to Los Angeles County, southeast of downtown Los Angeles. Pacific Blvd is a popular shopping street and one of Huntington Park's premier shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. I grew up in the area and it brought back many good memories when I was there, little has changed. I also studied and graduated from H.P. High. Nice area, clean streets and Pacific Blvd have good restaurants to eat. The Pacific Boulevard site in downtown Huntington Park was a large commercial area serving primarily working-class city dwellers, as well as residents of neighboring cities such as Bell, Kadahi, South Gate, and Downey. Remarkable Streamline Moderne architecture includes the Lane-Wells Building and the W. W. Henry Company Building. Art Deco architecture is found in the Huntington Park business district and includes the old Pacific Boulevard theaters. The 1,468-seat Warner Theater on Pacific Boulevard opened in 1930 and was designed by B. Markus Priteka. The California Theater opened in 1925 and was run by Fox Theaters as Fox California Theater. In the 1980s, it was known as the California 3 Theater. The theater closed in 2006 and was later transformed into a commercial floor. It has been renamed California 2 Theaters and now houses a tuxedo shop, as well as other shops and restaurants. Pacific Boulevard, Huntington Park's shopping street, has been the scene of festivals, carnival fairs and parades. The "Spring Carnival" is held annually for three days on nine blocks of Pacific Boulevard in Huntington Park. The event features Central American and Mexican cuisine, rides, games, and live music. Linwood is a city in Los Angeles County, California. Lynwood is located near South Gate and Compton in the South Los Angeles Basin. The town was founded in 1921 and is named after Lynn Wood Sessions, wife of local milkman Charles Sessions. In honor of the dairy plant, the local railroad siding was named and later the Pacific Electric Railway station. The city and nearby cities include Commerce, Vernon, Southgate and Downey, and the city was named after industrialist Henry Huntington.
