Welcome and happy vlogging as we drive east to the San Francisco Bay to get to know the surroundings of Oakland. The best way to get around the East Bay is on the BART system, and I have 20 minutes down the street to the Oakland California Museum, which has a unique Burning Man art exhibit. Burning Man is a community and temporary town that is celebrated in Nevada every summer. It originated right here in the Bay Area and is widely known for its famous art installations, which are on display here at the Auckland Museum. Working here takes you to another dimension of your multisensory experience. It includes everything from huge neon mushrooms that move as you walk on them to cars and art costumes. Burning Man collaborators build and create a black rock city, a temporary metropolis where experimental art installations, some of which are ritually burned to the ground, are the centerpiece for innovative producers and emerging artists. Here at the museum, we learn about the evolution of Burning Man and can also see some of his most famous works of art, including the 40-foot open temple created by world-renowned sculptor David Best.
